I’m very new to crabbing, this being my first year to work snares from the beach. I knew I needed to get snares so I started buying them. The more I learned about them the more I regretted my early decisions and moved on to better and better snatchers. The Durasnares are designed really well, and they’re well built. They’re very functional and I had success with them on opening day!
What separates Durasnare from other snare manufacturers is their willingness to roll up their sleeves and work with beginners and provide insight and coaching. When you’re new to something, you look for people that can help you advance quickly so that you don’t make avoidable mistakes. The folks at Durasnare are such people.
I had countless stupid questions and they kept providing me with timely and insightful guidance that really steepened in the learning curve for me so that I could be effective on day one.
It wasn’t like dealing with a company. It was more like dealing with a friend. I was given coaching on everything from how to work snares to why I should always make sure I wear waders. It was like I had someone looking out for me.
Along with making a truly great set of snares, these people are true ambassadors to the sport of crab snaring. They really doing everything they can to expand membership to the sport, and I for one feel that I should support them.
Obviously buying a snare doesn’t put crabs in the bucket, but these people will do everything they can to make sure that the snare you do buy ends up getting you some Dungeness crabs. They’re truly a great outfit.

First time snaring for crabs and I picked up a couple Dura Snares at the local sporting goods store. My wife and I had tried dock crabbing with a ring with little success, so we figured snares would be a good way to get out. We watched a few of the YouTube videos from DuraSnare and we hit the local crabbing spots. We had crab with in the first couple casts and we were hooked. The thrill of watching your rod almost get pulled into the ocean because a giant 8 in. crab has taken the bait will keep you coming back time and time again. These snares catch crabs by themselves! How can you go wrong!
It took a little practice to cast and adapt our bait but that was on us not the product. By the next trip we were pulling in crab left and right! Looking forward to full coolers as we head into the fall and more lucrative months to crab, but even over the summer it’s worth casting a DuraSnare out and enjoying the chance to catch a keeper for dinner!
